Resources for living a life of outrageous abundance!

Happy Living Is An Art That Anyone Can Master

What do you think about happiness? A philosophical approach to life, an intellectual activity or an academical pursuit. No, not at all, nothing of the sort.

Happy living is nothing more than living a normal life free from undue pressures, problems and tensions.

The Art of Happy Living is not a complicated kind of art difficult to learn rather a simple art of living well, eating well, thinking well and feeling well. Just tune up your mind to enjoy every moment of life and let the happiness follow you.

Happiness is purely an internal matter. It has nothing to do with your external circumstances. Most people do the fatal mistake of looking outwards for happiness rather than looking inwards. Only fools worry about the circumstances on which they have no control. Why worry if you cannot change the weather, rather enjoy it whether its hot, humid, cold, cloudy, foggy or snowy. Keep your internal weather pleasant all the time. Don’t allow external matters to take your smiles away.

The feeling of happiness is within you. There is something positive within you which keeps you happy and there is something negative within you which keeps you unhappy. That “something" needs to be looked into thoroughly. If you want to live a happy life then get rid of the negative “something" which makes you unhappy. Negative approach always complicates the problems and increases unhappiness.

Happy living is the reward of positive thinking. Remember, only the positive thinking can bring happiness in your life. If you cannot think positively, you cannot live happily. Be your own coach and adviser. Look everything with a positive angle. Find something good even in most critical moments of your life. Make positive thinking the basis of your happy living.

Happiness is all around. Its not far away from you. If you do not want to live happy, its upto you. Its your own choice. Don’t blame others. Don’t blame your fate or external circumstances.

  • Are You Afraid Of Abundance?

It is well documented that many people fail to achieve their goals in life due to the phenomenon known as "fear of failure" but are you aware that a major factor that is often overlooked, is a state known as "fear of abundance"?

Fear of failure will lead many people into inertia - the inability to make decision or take action in case they receive rejection or negative outcomes. This mental state is fairly easy to identify and there are many tools in the personal development industry to help combat this plague and reprogram the mind for abundance. However, the fear of abundance is much more subtle, harder to spot and also harder to eradicate.

Perhaps you have this tendency in your life. Here are some indications of a fear of abundance mentality:

  • Studying and trying to implement self-improvement techniques and/or personal development tools but your life does not improve or may even get worse.

  • You settle for less than you feel you deserve or are capable of achieving.

  • You start new projects full of enthusiasm and optimism but wane in your efforts or stop short before you have completed them.

  • You expect things to go wrong no matter how well the situation appears to be at the moment.

Can you identify your own patterns in the any of the above statements?

The fear of abundance can also make you behave in ways that hold you back. Look at the list below. The following are the symptoms of the fear of abundance:

    Procrastination.

This is simply putting off what needs to be done or not doing what you know will bring you closer to your desired result. Everyone suffers from this inner 'demon' at some point in their lives (although some of us suffer from it more than others!).

Can't see the forest for the trees!

Don't get caught up in your plan believing that it is more important than the materialised goal thus missing many opportunities to alter your path and reach your goals more quickly!

Thinking that the time is not right.

Have you ever waited until the timing was perfect before starting a venture? Have you ever waited until you had more information on a better plan?

    Being a perfectionist.

This is similar to the point above and has the same effect, namely, that you never really move forward. No matter how good a job is when its finished it can always be improved!

    Seeing only problems.

How do you use your focus? Do you constantly see only and all the problems involved? If you are this way inclined it is pointless trying to change overnight!

The above guidelines will show you what you need to change to achieve abundance. Eliminate these blocks and eventually your fear of abundance will dissipate and you will have moved a long way forward in your personal development.

  • 7 Keys To Find Your Abundant Life

All of us have days when we feel shortchanged by the world around us. We wish we had more material things, more friends, true love, greater career success. Today might just be such a day for you and, try as you might, you just cannot get yourself out of your funky thinking. Here are 7 easy ways to find the abundance in your life.

Keep in mind, as you go through the following list, our goal is to get you to hit the "reset button" on your attitude so you can honestly recapture all the abundance you already have. At the same time, you just might open your mind and heart to even more abundance to flow to you.

    1. Connect with your abundant life.

Rain or shine, hot or snowy, get out of the house and walk in your world. You may live in the quiet country or in a bustling city, it matters not. Get out and walk.

Taking a short walk every day, while it is great exercise for the body, it can be even more beneficial for your attitude.

Whether you live in a natural setting, that is where there are open fields or trees, rabbits and robins, really does not matter. You can even find inspiration walking along a busy avenue of shoppers and street vendors. The idea here is to soak up as much of your environment as possible by observing every little detail.

    Look at everything.

In the country, what do you see, hear, smell? Is there Summer greenery or the sun sparkling off mounds of snow? What smells are in the air? Do you smell flowers, grass, corn stalks growing, a wood burning fireplace?

What sounds do you hear? Do you feel the wind, hear birds calling to each other, hear the hooves of horses as they trot through the pasture, hear the crunch of snow beneath your feet?

In the city, what is around you? Do you notice that Deli you never noticed before? Go inside. Smell the myriad of odors from the various meats and cheeses and from the special breads. Ask the deli clerk about some of them. What are they? How do they taste? Are they tart, bitter, sweet, salty? Buy a sampling and surprise your taste buds!

On the street, notice the signs, billboards, window displays. What do they say or sell? Notice the people walking along. Are they in a hurry? Are they just strolling along like you? Are there couples holding hands? A mother strolling her baby? An elderly gentleman sitting by himself at a sidewalk cafe'?

These are all signs, country or city, of the abundant world you are a part of, that is yours to enjoy as part of your life's experience.

    2. Rock and Roll or Boston Pops?

Change your negative inner conversation with your favorite music. Music can have a magical effect within minutes. It will transform your attitude and energize you. Resurrect that favorite CD that will transport you back to a time when you felt that life was a great adventure ahead of you. Recapture that rapture!

I love listening to Doo Wop from the 50's. It was a time of life when I felt lucky. I felt all kinds of amazing things were just around the corner. And, they were!

Allow the music to reset your attitude to a time when things were going your way, when the world was dealing you all the right cards in your game of life and you will discover that the right cards are still being dealt to you. You might realize that you stopped playing the game and that you need to get back into it.

I am in my 60's and still play every day!

    3. Life is full of new things to discover.

Get away from your iPod, your computer, the TV, and your cell phone for a few hours and go on a discovery tour.

Check out the local library. Walk among the books and look for subjects you know nothing about but have wondered about. Grab a book or two and sit down and just read for a while. This practice could give seed to an idea that will bring you even more abundance.

Check out local historical sites. We once visited relatives in Texas and took them to local historical places in their city that they never knew existed! They had some wonderful assets under their noses that they could have woven into to the fabric of their abundance but never took time for discovery.

    4. Jay Leno, Robin Williams, Jim Carrey, and you!

The masters of comedy make a good living transforming the mundane and making it funny to entertain us and move us from our funky mood into that special place that allows us to banish our negative attitude for a short time. Learn from them.

If you approach life with a light-hearted view, you will notice things that are really funny.

The famous funny-man, Milton Berle once said: "I know a good joke when I steal...er...hear one!" Well, steal some jokes and retell them to your family and friends. Make them forget their negative attitude for a few moments, too. They might even tell you a few jokes! It will lift your spirits and theirs at the same time.

    5. Abundance breathing.

Think about how you relieve stress with an exhale and a sigh. Some teach this as a meditation exercise. It's simple and can be done anytime, anywhere. You can do it standing, sitting, or laying down.

It's simply a matter of focusing on the flow your breath and how it moves through your body. Take a moment to feel it as you inhale and exhale. Do it slowly and deliberately. Actually feel it flowing and you will notice your tension easing almost immediately.

This, by the way, is a great way to stop road rage from overtaking you! I guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised by how quickly relaxed you become.

    6. Let the Doodler loose.

My wife is a great doodler whenever she is on the phone. She says she doodles more when the conversation is about a stressful situation the person she is talking with is going through. It helps her to keep from taking on the other person's stress. Instead, she transfers the stress to the doodles!

I only doodle on the phone when I need to focus my thoughts regarding business matters. I put intricate boxes around important points, for example. Or, I might put a row of exclamation points at the end of an important item to be followed up.

The whole purpose of doodling is to redirect the mind from something negative to a positive and it also serves to release your creative genius.

Grab a pen and paper and just doodle for the fun of it. Let the pictures flow. Set your creative mind free and see what you have been keeping from adding to your abundance. At the very least, doodling will sharpen your ability to notice just how blessed you already are.

Do not try to create some great work of art, either. This is about creative freedom. Let loose your creative ability. Doodling shuts off your conscious reasoning and opens your subconscious mind to give you some great ideas or just to relieve the stress of the moment.

    7. "I'm glad that's not me!"

Sometimes we just need to look at others to see just how great a life we have. While it's true that there are other people who have much more in life than we have, there are many more that have less than we do depending upon the country in which you live.

If you are in the United States or in one of the industrialized nations of the world, chances are you are living a much more abundant life than most people. You may have trouble believing this, at times, but because you can read this article and have an Internet connection to get this article, I guarantee you are better off than most people in the world.

We see the stories in the newspaper and on line of many of our fellow human beings that barely have basic food, clothing and safe shelter. They suffer unimaginable despair on a daily basis. A simple cup of food means great abundance for them that day.

By simply recognizing their pain and feeling compassion for their plight should make you realize just how abundant your life is right now. Be glad you live the life you do. If you are so moved, make a financial donation to an organization who helps such unfortunate people.

Just how blessed are we in the U.S.A.? We visited Disney World recently and I struck up a conversation with a truck driver from the United Kingdom. His observation of what he had seen in the U.S. was that we are all rich in comparison to his countrymen! Prices on everything here are much cheaper than in England, housing and transportation are much better, life in general here is envied in Europe.

So, what is your current attitude towards the abundance in your life? Do you see just how blessed you are? Can you see how, by following the 7 steps in this article, you can have even greater abundance?

  • 7 Ways To Develop Your Magnetic Attraction

Attractiveness, male or female, provides a golden reflection of your shimmering inner essence. It reflects true self-perception as well as the extent of one's discipline. But, how do you get there? What do you need to know to transform yourself? Here are 7 proven techniques you can put into action today!

Attractiveness indicates a sensitivity to those around us. Just as we shine our shoes, wash our cars or trim our lawns to provide “eye-candy” to passers-by, we keep our bodies in the pink of health to offer delightful icons worthy of emulation.

I believe that magnetic attraction is not trivial; it is core to civilized society. Imagine everyone abandoning restraint and shuffling around in tattered clothes, drooping bellies, dishevelled hair, blackened fingernails and breath so foul only a mother could love? Those who shun attractiveness as superficial are probably too lazy to reach for a bar of soap or the jump rope.

Attractive people are not necessarily supermodels with Greek-god faces and unreal proportions. That is a myth promulgated by sneaky salesmen of snake oil creams and dangerous body implants. Let them go under the knife, slather muck on their faces 24/7, then, I’ll believe them.

Attractive people are normal people who watch their diet, keep their bodies clean, and wear tasteful, yet inexpensive clothing. They maintain an empowered lifestyle, indulge in mind-expanding books and engage in varied activity that enriches their awareness.

Attractiveness, more importantly, is internal. The attractive assert their opinions and fight for convictions. Whether handsome or pretty, bland or plain, the internally magnetic betray an intelligence and burning diligence that reflects their personality. Recall that personality is molded by how we carry ourselves and associate with the world at large. Finally, attractiveness is holistic.

Magnetic people take effort to be the best that they can be. They understand that they are fusions of body, soul and spirit. Hence, they build up each facet by honing their talents and passions. They may have ordinary faces but lead extraordinary lives. These exceptional people are the best humanity can offer; they easily outshine the empty-headed Greek Models of the catwalk.

Augmenting attractiveness simply means caring of the body and the mind. It doesn’t take much effort, just a tad of self regulation.

Here’s how to ooze magnetic attraction:

    1. Books and periodicals are your best friend. Beef up what’s in your head and rack up more beauty points with your enlightened discussions. Intelligence is attractive.

    2. Watch stand-up comedy. You will develop your sense of humour. Wit is a rare and valued commodity.

    3. Is that a burger you’re shovelling down your throat? Stop. You are literally what you eat. Want to be a lard bucket? Then chomp that burger.

    4. Soap, shampoo and mouthwash are better than all the pheromone sprays, libido enhancers and failed nose lifts. Good hygiene is the honey that attracts the delightful bees.

    5. Dress to impress- 24/7. You probably had one of those moments. There you were, in sloppy coveralls at the mall. Then you run into the boss or a beautiful stranger. Say this with me: “NEVER AGAIN.” One more time. “NEVER AGAIN.”

    6. Ask and Listen. The most dazzling conversationalists avoid monopolizing conversations. Rather, they ask tons of questions…. And listen for hours on end. Stop and think about that. Isn’t your best friend a great listener?

    7. Finally, think sexy. Feel sexy. You are what you think you are. Your body follows what the mind dictates. Executive coaches like to pass this astounding piece of common sense for a hefty fee. Save your money.

So, get out there and glow. You can be attractive without those creams, lotions and surgeons.

  • 7 Deadly Habits Of Spectacularly Damaged People

Grab my eBook - Self Esteem Magic - here!

If you want to have a fantastic life, never engage in these 7 deadly habits that unsuccessful people engage in every waking moment of their lives. In fact, you must resist engaging in any single one of these 7 deadly habits from this day forward, and, avoid anyone who attempts to drag you into their negative view of life.

1 - They Think, Say, & Do Negative Things.

Yes. They see problems at every opportunity. They complain that the sun is too hot. They curse the rain for ruining their plans for the day. They blame the wind for ruining their hair. They think that everyone is against them. They see the problems but never the solutions. Every little bit of difficulty is exaggerated to the point of tragedy. They regard failures as catastrophes. They become discouraged easily instead of learning from their mistakes. They never seem to move forward because they're always afraid to come out of their comfort zones. They are comfortable in their misery.

2 - They Act Before They Think.

They move based on instinct or impulse. If they see something they like, they buy at once without any second thought. Then they see something better. They regret and curse for missing the bargain. Then they spend and spend again until nothing is left. They don't think about the future. What they're after is the pleasure they will experience at present. They don't think about the consequences. Those who engage in unsafe sex, criminality, and the like are also included in this group.

3 - They Talk Much More Than They Listen

They want to be the star of the show. So they always engage in talks that would make them heroes, even to the point of lying. Oftentimes they are not aware that what they're saying is not sensible anymore. When other people advise them, they close their ears because they're too proud to admit their mistakes. In their mind they're always correct. They reject suggestions because that will make them feel inferior.

4 - They Give Up Easily

Successful people treat failures as stepping stones to success. The damaged ones call it quits upon recognizing the first signs of failure. At first, they may be excited to start an endeavor. But then they lose interest fairly quickly, especially when they encounter obstacles. Then they go & search for a new challenge. Same story & same results. Damaged people don't have the persistence to go on and fulfill their dreams.

5 - They Try to Bring Others Down To Their Level

Damaged people envy other successful individuals. Instead of working hard to be like them, they spread rumors and try every dirty trick to bring successful people down. They could have asked these successful ones nicely how to be successful. But No, they're too proud. They don't want to ask advice.

6 - They Waste Their Time

They don't know what to do next. They may just be contented on eating, getting drunk, watching TV, or worse, staring at the blank wall with no thoughts whatsoever to improve their lives. It's perfectly fine to waste time once in a while. But they give no thought to managing their time efficiently in order to succeed. They have no balance between work & pleasure.

7 - They Take the Easy Way Out

If there are two roads to choose from, damaged people would choose the wider road with less rewards than the narrower road with much better rewards at the end. They don't want any suffering or hardship. They want a good life. What these people don't know is that what you reap is what you sow. Efforts & action will not go unnoticed. If only they would be willing to sacrifice a little, they would be much better off. Successful people made it through trials & error. They never give up. They are willing to do everything necessary to achieve what they aspire for in life.

What is at the root of the damaged person?

Usually it's low self worth that they are masking with negative talk and actions. They feel inferior at every turn. Don't be one of them.

3 Credit Tips To Increase Your Financial Abundance

Grab my Free eBook: Credit Rescue! Click here!

While extremely convenient, credit cards can be a very costly consumer product. Most people don’t realize just how expensive carrying around a credit card in your wallet can be. Each year many big spending credit card consumers can throw hundreds or even thousands of dollars out the window using credit cards. Even if you’re not a big credit card spender, almost anyone can save hundreds of dollars each year with these 3 credit card tips.

  • Never Pay the Minimum Payment

Your credit card company usually makes sure you know that there is a minimum payment. Even if you owe thousands of dollars, your minimum payment can seem extremely low, sometimes only 3% of your total balance. However, what the credit card companies don’t tell you is that if you have a large balance and only pay the minimum payment for the next few years you will cost yourself possibly thousands of dollars in interest costs alone.

In fact, that purchase at the record store for $50 over time will double. To avoid paying interest only and never touching the principle make sure you always pay more than just the minimum payment.

  • Transfer Your Balance to a Lower Interest Credit Card!

Most Americans receive several credit card offers each month and most have some very enticing interest rate offers. For instance, many credit card offers will transfer your existing high interest rate credit card for free to the new card and allow you either zero percent interest for 6 months or a very low interest rate for a specific period of time.

If you have a high balance in which you pay hundreds of dollars each year on interest payments, in many cases it is in your best interest to accept these offers and enjoy zero or low interest for the next 6 months to a year.

  • Use a Debit Card Instead of a Credit Card!

It’s no surprise that many times we use credit cards out of habit. But why use something that is so expensive when we don’t need to. We can easily pay for that meal or fill up our car with gas with our debit card and not pay any interest.

Debit cards are just as convenient as credit cards and usually accepted everywhere credit is as well. Use your debit card to avoid high interest fees in the long run and you can literally save hundreds in interest fees each year.

Happiness: 7 Steps To The Right Choices For A Happy Life

Many of our roads have hairpin turns, detours, and crossroads in life. Perhaps the most perplexing of them all is a crossroad. With four roads to choose from and with limited knowledge on where they would go, we must make a choice as to which road to take.

Here are 7 steps that could help you choose the best option when you encounter life’s crossroads:

The roads of life can lead to places we might not want to go. There are long and short roads; smooth and rocky roads; crooked and straight roads. In our life we have the choice of many roads to find our way as we journey through life. There are roads that lead to a life of joy, family, and religious vocation. There are also roads that lead to fame and fortune on one hand, or isolation and poverty on the other. There are roads to happiness as there are roads to sadness, roads towards victory and jubilation, and roads leading to defeat and disappointment.

What is the guarantee that we would choose the right one that will lead us where we hope will be a happy destination? Some gamble and take the road that looks smoothest, others just stand at the crossroad unable to choose.

    Here are the 7 steps:

    1. There are no guarantees.

You do not really know where a road will lead you until you take it. This is one of the most important things you need to realize about life. Nobody said that choosing to do the right thing all the time would always lead you to happiness.

Loving someone with all your heart does not guarantee that it would be returned. Gaining fame and fortune does not guarantee happiness.

Accepting a good word from an influential superior to cut your trip short up the career ladder is not always good, even if you are highly qualified and competent. Why? There are too many possible outcomes, which your really cannot control. The only thing you have power over is the decisions that you will make, and how you would act and react to different situations.

    2. Wrong decisions are always at hindsight.

Had you known that you were making a wrong decision, would you have gone along with it? Perhaps not. Why would you choose a certain path when you know it would get you lost? Why make a certain decision if you knew from the very beginning that it is not the right one. It is only after you have made a decision and reflected on it that you realize whether it was the right one. If the consequences or outcomes are good for you, then you have decided correctly. Otherwise, your decision was wrong.

    3. To take the risk you must decide.

Since life offers no guarantee and you would never know that your decision would be wrong until you have made it, then you might as well take the risk and decide. It is definitely better than keeping yourself in limbo.

Although it is true that one wrong turn could get you lost, it could also be that such a turn could be an opportunity for an adventure that leads to more open roads. It is all a matter of perspective. You have the choice between being a lost traveler or an accidental tourist of life. But take caution that you do not make decisions haphazardly. Taking risks is not about being careless and stupid.

    4. Get as much information as you can about your situation.

You cannot find the confidence to decide when you know so little about what you are faced with. When I was a news reporter, I asked the 5 W’s: what, who, when, where, and why to determine the truth about a situation. What is the situation? Who are the people involved? When did this happen? Where is this leading? Why are they in this situation? These are just some of the possible questions to ask to know more about your own situation. This is so important that I still employ it. Oftentimes, the reason for indecision is the lack of information about a situation.

    5. Identify and create options.

What options does the situation give you? Sometimes the options are few, sometimes they seem too numerous. And, what do you do when you think that the situation offers no options? This is the time that you create your own. Make your creative mind work.

From the most simplistic to the most complicated, entertain all ideas. Do not shoot anything down when an idea comes to your head. Sometimes the most outrageous idea could prove to be the right one in the end. You can ask a friend to help you identify options and even make more options if you encounter some difficulty, but make sure that you make the decision yourself in the end.

    6. Weigh the pros and cons of every option.

Assess each option by looking at the advantages and disadvantages it offers you. In this way, you get more insights about the consequences of such an option.

    7. Trust yourself and make that decision.

Now that you have assessed your options, it is now time to trust yourself. Remember that there are no guarantees and you cannot undo decisions once they are set into motion. So choose, decide, and believe that you are choosing the best option at this point in time.

If you have applied these 7 steps to your current situation, you will have made a decision. Now, be ready to face its consequences: good and bad. It may take you to a place of promise or to a land of problems. But, the important thing is, you have chosen to live your life instead of remaining a bystander or a passive audience to your own life. Whether it is the right decision, only time will reveal but do not regret it whatever the outcome. Instead, learn from it and remember that you always have the chance to make better decisions in the future.

To succeed at anything you only have to be right 51% of the time!

    Create Financial Abundance Starting Today!

You can create all the money you need to have all of your needs met, in a way that makes you feel good about yourself and about your life.

If you are struggling with money , then you may need to change the way you look upon money. Even if you have lots of money, but other areas of your life are falling apart, you may need to change the way you look upon money. This is not hard, but it does require willingness to look at money in a different way than you may have been accustomed.

Money is just a form of energy, so for a moment, you may let go of the idea of money and just focus upon the idea of energy, even the life-force that you breathe in and out every moment of your life. It's easy, it's natural - to breathe. You take in energy, you give out energy, you let it flow ... you don't try to stop the flow, you don't sit and worry when you exhale whether and where from will another breath come, you just let it come in and go out. You can do the same with money ... just let it come in, and let it go ... in a balanced way.

Every moment of your life you are exchanging your energy with the world around you. You are not just giving or just taking, but exchanging different forms of energy. And energy is convertible. You go outside and it's a beautiful sunny day and it makes you feel so good and happy. You feel nourished by the warmth and the brightness of the sun and then you go and share it with the world. You walk around with a smile on your face and someone smiles back and says "Hi!". And you may respond and even engage in a pleasant conversation.

This is all a natural exchange of energy. You did not work hard at it. You were just enjoying yourself and expressing the good feelings you felt. The world reflected it back to you and you ended up being enriched in some way. Creating financial abundance is just like that. You look into your heart and find something that makes your heart sing with joy, something that you enjoy doing, something that feels natural for you to do and makes you feel good about yourself. Then you go out and share it with the world. If you like to sing and dance, you go out and sing and dance.

If you like to write, you sit down and write. If you like to create something, you go out and create it. You don't do these things because of money, but because they make you feel good. As you share the joys of your heart with the world, you are offering your energy to the world and the world will offer its energy back to you; and if money is what you need, then you may ask for money and you'll get money.

If you have enough money and you don't need any more, then you can exchange it for some other form of energy, whether it's a smile, feeling of appreciation and gratitude of whatever other form of energy you would like to experience.

What you are ultimately exchanging is love ... you let your heart speak through what you do and you get love back in any form that fulfills your needs. If you share a lot of love with the world, you get lot of love back. And again, this energy of love is convertible. It will take any form that is required to meet your needs. As you let it flow out of you freely and open yourself to receive it freely, just like the flow of your breathing, whatever you may ever need, will come your way.

When you breathe, you never think that you have to be in some particular spot in order to get the air that you need. You know that the air is all around you, and so is love and the energy of money . In it you live and move and have your being. You can even love a sunny day, or a tree, or a pet, or do something that makes you feel good to help one person and get money in exchange - from a totally different place - even a lottery - because you are at all times exchanging the energy with the world, not with any particular place or person.

    It is a holistic relationship.

So, if you lose one job, it doesn't matter. That job is not the "source" of your financial abundance . It is only one of the "channels". The "source" of your financial abundance is the world, or more appropriately the love you choose to share with the world. As you go out to do something that will make the world a better place, the world will do something that will make your life more fulfilling and meaningful.

Do not get fixated on any particular "channel" for any of your needs, financial or otherwise. If you do, you'll get stuck and you'll feel frustrated when that particular channel is unable or unwilling to deliver what you need. Let go and let what you need come from wherever it wants.

Do not let fear block you from expressing what you really love to do. Have guts to follow your heart and be true to yourself. You develop a healthy relationship with money not through fear, but through love, through honoring and expressing your heart, through doing that what you love, through doing that which is meaningful to you, through doing that which makes you feel good about yourself and about your life.

Sometimes I get emails from people who say they want to "help the world" but don't have enough money . If you genuinely desire to help the world, then you can begin with what you have, by taking whatever action you are able to take. Your love, desire and enthusiasm for your "mission", supported by your action, will then draw into your life whatever help you may need, financially or otherwise, to serve the world in a way that is most appropriate for you. And even if you don't have a single coin to your name, if you just sit in meditation and send feelings of love and goodwill to the entire world, the way will open up and the opportunities will come your way.

Love always responds to love, though what you need and desire may come from totally unexpected channels.

  • The Secret - Reviewed by Dan Brown

    Hi Jim,

By now, you've probably heard about the best-selling book called "The Secret." This book is also in a DVD and Audio CD format... It's huge right now! The concept is, by using this "secret," which is "The Law of Attraction," you can create ANYTHING you want in your life: more money, a bigger house, more business, a new mate, literally anything you want! While "The Secret" has many truths in it, I personally disagree.

I personally disagree with the notion that a person can have just ANYTHING. The reason is... because we were born with different strengths skills, talents, and abilities. God made us all unique, with a purpose, and with a certain mission. It really isn't "all about us!"

There are a few major things I certainly disagree with concerning "The Secret" but, I do believe in the "Law of Attraction!" Here's why... Jesus said, "All things are possible to him who BELIEVES" (Mark 9:23). What is "believing? It's a manner of THOUGHT! The "Law of Attraction" basically says, "What you think about the most becomes your reality" or, "Thoughts become things!"

Here is another biblical reference pointing to this fact: "As a man Thinks, so is he" (Proverbs 23:7)! If you read my newsletter every week (and I'm sure you do, right?), you know that I write a lot about how important our thinking is! What we think about most flows out of our lives!

Proverbs 4:23 says, "Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flow the issues of life." While the teachers of "The Secret" have some contradictory ideas to the Word of God, there is some good that can be used. It's just like life, there's good and bad. We must guard our hearts and choose the GOOD!

The Law of Attraction is good and bad! It depends on how we use it. But, how can we use it unless we know how it works? This universal law is one of the laws we really need to understand! Scientists have proven over and over that universal laws are always working! For example, the universal Law of Gravity is always working. You drop a brick... It hits the ground very quickly (watch out for your foot)! It doesn't matter if you believe in the Law of Gravity, it still applies! Just like the Law of Gravity is always working, so is the Law of Attraction!

The Law of Attraction largely determines what we get out of life. It has been working FOR, or AGAINST us since we were born. If you ARE, or ARE NOT, getting the things you really and truly desire out of life, I encourage you to go to this site and find out how to make The Law of Attraction work for you!

    Blessings!
    Dan

  • 7 Days to Creating an Abundant Life

What are the keys to having a more abundant life? How to make money? How to find Mr. or Ms. Right? Having better health? You may be surprised at the real answers to these and other desires of your heart.

An abundant life is as individual as you are. You determine what abundance is for you. It's not what the world says it is. A rich person can feel poor because of family trouble. A poor person can feel rich because of a happy family life.

I have been on the planet for a long time and I have struggled along the way to find the keys to my personal version of an abundant life. To give you some incentive, I was a high school dropout and factory worker who became a respected Radio and TV News Anchorman.

Here is how I changed my thinking and my life:

    1. Know your purpose. Before you can have an abundant life you need to find your purpose. Are you wandering through life with little direction - hoping that you'll find happiness, health and prosperity? Identify your life purpose and you will have your own unique compass that will lead you to your truth North every time.

This may seem tricky at first if you see your life at a dead end. You may be evaluating yourself as you believe the world sees you or by the standards of the world. Finding your purpose is that little loophole that will turn your thinking around and begin making a big difference by focusing your thinking and emotions.

    2. Know your values. What do you value most? This is so important. Make a list of your top 5 values. Some examples are security, freedom, family, spiritual development, learning. As you think about your purpose - check your purpose against your values. If your purpose does not align with any of your top five values - you may want to reconsider it or revise it.

Picking 5 values will motivate you to do more than you can ever dreamed of because it will allow that creative and imaginative inner you to dream of the possibilities.

    3. Know your needs. Unmet needs can keep you from living authentically. You may have thought that your needs were not important or could never be met. Do you have a need to be acknowledged, to be right, to be in control, to be loved? There are so many people who live their lives without realizing their dreams. Many end up being stressed or even depressed for that matter. Is that your experience? I know it used to be mine.

List your top 4 needs. Be sure they line up with your purpose and values and imagine ways to get them met before it's too late!

    4. Know your passions. To know who you really are what you truly enjoy in life are your passions. You may have kept these passions hidden because of mental obstacles like doubt. Doubt kills enthusiasm. Doubt will only hinder you and has derailed your chance to become the person you ought to be. Find role models to inspire you to become the very person you wanted to be.

When I was starting out in broadcasting, my mentor was CBS News Anchorman Walter Cronkite. He was who I wanted to be as a broadcaster. I learned to write and voice news by copying him until I could develop my own style. You see, sometimes you need to copy someone you admire in order to find yourself and have your own version of whatever your passion is.

    5. Live from the inside out. Increase your awareness of your inner wisdom by regularly reflecting inward. Take a walk outdoors. Let nature touch you. Breathe deeply to quiet your distracted mind. I love the smell of fallen leaves and crisp Fall air. They stimulate my emotions and my creativity. Another way to get focused is to just sit in a dimly lit room and play some classical music through headsets. There's sound, yes, but music does stimulate the emotions which will stimulate your creative thinking.

    6. Honor your strengths. What are your positive traits? What special talents do you have? List 3 that line up with your purpose and values. If you get stuck, ask those closest to you to help identify these. Are you imaginative, witty, good with your hands? Find ways to express your authentic self through your strengths. You can increase your self-confidence when you can share what you know with others.

My talent is writing and was creativity in Radio and Television programing. I could create an entire program format within hours, write the script, secure the guests, get commercial sponsors, etc. It is what I was good at and paid handsomely for doing. I retired early and now feed my writing passion by editing 16 blogs, including this one. It's is great fun and I am learning a new skill.

I love to play guitar too and I have been in a few Rock bands but I am not good enough to be a Rock Star! No sense in kidding myself. I just do not have that much talent or the commitment it takes to get there. I know my passion and my talents. They have served me well.

    7. Serve others. Or, to put it another way - Give to receive! I am a Christian but you can serve others no matter what your Faith (or no Faith in God at all). When you live authentically, you will find that you develop an interconnected sense of being. When you are true to who you are, living your purpose, and giving of your talents to the world around you, you give back in service what you came to share with others -your spirit - your essence.

The "high" you get by sharing your gift with those closest to you is indeed rewarding but much more when you see the "Thank you" in the eyes of a stranger you just helped. This act of giving opens unseen doors for blessings to flow back to you.

Self-improvement is indeed the one type of work that is worth it. It shouldn't always be within the confines of an office building, or maybe in the four corners of your own room. The difference lies within ourselves and how much we want to change for the better and how much we want to give our talents to the world around us.

    Yours for success in life.

  • Play the 0% Credit Card Game and Win!

If you use credit cards properly, they can be your most powerful financial tool. But, mishandled, they can be draining your fun money. By borrowing smart, you can Play the 0% Credit Card Game and Win!

The average credit card user does not calculate how much money they waste paying the expensive rates of most credit cards and blindly sign up. Lurking in the background, buried in the fine print, is the credit card company's loophole. If you are late, even a day, your rate could go as high as 24% and there is nothing you can do about it. This is where the 0% APR credit card comes in. It's the best tool you can find for using OPM, other people's money, at no interest or fees whatsoever.

My wife and I have not paid credit card interest in over 10 years - Zero! Nada! Not one penny of interest, and we have had balances of up to $4,000.00 on our cards. In a minute I will share our 0% percent shuffle. No, it's not a country & western dance but we do make the money shuffle from one card to another.

Are we just lucky? No. We have been smart with our finances!

If you have been a wise money manager and pay your bills as agreed, you likely have received 0% offers in the mail. You should take advantage of them as we have. There is no doubt we have saved thousands of dollars in interest over the years. Low APR cards are nearly as good to have but only if you pay at least double the minimum payment each month. It's smart money management to pay off those cards as fast as possible because your credit score will soar. Then you too will be getting 0% offers in the mail.

What exactly does APR stand for anyway? Why do you need to trouble yourself with a definition? Don't you want to know how to keep more of your money?

Basically, APR is the cost of credit as a yearly interest rate. APR stands for “Annual Percentage Rate” which must be used to compare different credit and loan offers. The APR on credit cards is usually calculated monthly based on the current outstanding balance which gives you that so-called "minimum payment". Credit card companies must tell you how they calculate APR. It's in the ol' fine print that you need a magnifier to read.

There is an old saying - "figures don't lie but liars can figure"! So, read the fine print!

APR, of course, does not really apply to 0% cards because, well, it's Zero! You do want to look closely at the terms of any 0% card you are considering. Make sure you know the number of months the 0% is in effect and exactly when it expires. You want to know what the interest rate will be when 0% expires, which can get tricky. Watch out for rates tied to the Prime Rate. This will allow the company to hike your rate in line with hikes in the Prime Rate and that could get really expensive. Watch out for transaction fees or monthly minimum balance fees. We reject cards with any fees whatsoever.

Although the arrangements and terms may vary from one lender to another, the 0% or a low APR credit card are obviously what you want because the lower the APR, the better the deal for you, the more extra cash you have to spend on other things. A nice benefit, eh?

For the sake of argument, let's say you are unable to get a 0% card because your credit score is a bit low. The alternative is to apply for the lowest APR credit card you can find and work your way up until someone says - Yes. You have to start somewhere, right? This is especially true if you are into tight financial budgeting. So you see, APR is the most important factor of a credit card because APR determines how much interest you are handing over to them and how much you can save for the fun spending. Now, are you glad you got that definition?

If you are looking for a 0% card or a low APR credit card right now, you don't need to wait for the mailman. Simply go online and begin searching. You will find plenty to choose from.

Again, read the fine print of every offer. What are the charges or fees? Is it a variable rate or a fixed rate? We only accept a low fixed rate that will take effect when the 0% expires, just in case we get caught short. That has not happened yet but we are prepared for it anyway.

Say No to optional charges like payment protection insurance or credit protection plans. If there are any such charges, make sure that you understand what they are and when you have to pay them. We never take the options because most credit cards automatically protect you for fraudulent charges up to $50.00. One card we have protects us 100% at no extra charge.

Now, here is the 0% shuffle I promised to tell you about. It's really simple and we have been doing it, as I said, for over 10 years.

When the 0% on one card is about to expire and we have a substantial balance, we simply get a new 0% card and transfer the old balance to the new card! We have done this numerous times over the years with no adverse impact on our credit score. Some people will tell you that doing this will have a negative effect on your credit score but we have not seen that happen. In fact, we received two 0% offers just this past week. They even included blank checks for us to fill in the amount we want, up to our credit limit. Our credit limit, by the way, has grown from low 4-figures to high 5-figures over the years without us paying a single fee or penny in interest. Sweet.

Indeed, having a credit card can be useful and convenient, and can even help build a strong credit history that will help you with future goals like home-buying, paying for higher education, and even finding a job.

Using OPM, other people's money is the only way to go.

    Yours for Financial Success!

  • How To Have Abundance Can Be Learned!

Why do others seem to live an abundant life but, for you, an abundant life is always out of reach? The answer is simple: They know something you don't know and they do something you aren't doing.

I am always amazed, often saddened, by a simple fact of life that many people do not realize. Let me illustrate it with a short example of a real life couple who have not learned How To Have Abundance. As you read their story you may be tempted to think this doesn't apply to you. Please, give me the benefit of the doubt and read the entire article. It will only take a few minutes and you just might learn something about your own situation because this really does apply to just about everyone.

Billy and Jen (fictitious names but real people) live in a constant state of poverty. In spite of advice from people who have abundance, they listen to people just like them, people who are always broke. I mean, do you consult with a Plumber about brain surgery? Do you ask a high school dropout to help you write a Doctoral Thesis? You get the point.

Billy and Jen are constantly buying used vehicles that are "great deals", vehicles that break down within weeks and now sit in their yard, collecting weeds and critters. They get ripped off again and again.

Billy and Jen also rent their furniture, TV, and appliances just to have the newest thing, all the while they are draining their limited budget. Billy buys "girlie" magazines by the dozen, drinks beer by the case, and Jen buys just about everything put in front of her at house parties because they are "bargains". On top of this they are always giving their kids money because their kids, like them, are always broke. It's a vicious cycle. Poverty breeds poverty.

Here is first golden rule that people with abundance follow: "If you do what you have always done, you will get what you always get!". You see, people who have abundance learned how to stop going broke and learned How To Have Abundance! Now, what they always do are things that generate abundance and they always get abundance. It's like sowing and reaping. A farmer plants a seed for corn and he gets a crop of corn. What you plant, you get.

This is not the old "budget your money" blah, blah, blah or "save you money" blah, blah, blah routine. Budgeting and saving are certainly keys to having abundance. Learning about your spending habits, where each dollar goes, is vital to having an abundant lifestyle. Getting out of debt is another key. But, none of that will work unless you first change your mental attitude about abundance.

First, you must develop a positive attitude about abundance before any plan will work. This is a mental attitude that will make you determined to have everything, within reasonable limits, that you want in life. In short, the correct mental attitude to have is: "If I always do things to create abundance, I will always have abundance!".

Now, let me give you another rule that people who have abundance follow: They ask themselves - "Do I need this or just want this?". They ask this question before they spend a dollar on anything.

It's nice to want the latest things and to buy the latest things. But, if you buy them before you can really afford them, especially on credit, you become a slave to them. The glow of newness fades quickly but the monthly bill keeps coming long after the "thingy" was sold for pennies in your garage sale. You know what I'm talking about.

Let me ask you: "What have you bought that made you feel good when you bought it that still makes you feel good?". Not much, right?

My wife and I have lived by these rules for the past 10 years. We both came out of marriages where having things was more important and we were basically always in debt. Living by these abundance rules has allowed us to have everything we can possibly need or want, within reasonable limits of course. What do I mean by "reasonable limits"?

I would love to have a new (even used!) Mercedes. This is a fine piece of machinery. It would be great for my ego, too. But, It would be a useless drain on our budget and on our savings plan for retirement. Get the idea?

Do I need a Mercedes - NO! In fact, I recently retired and sold my car because, frankly, I don't need a car. We still have a late model car (it was paid off within 2 years by the way) because my wife has a few more years to work. I personally don't need a car anymore. We saved a lot of money getting rid of that extra set of wheels.

We are out of debt, except for a Home Mortgage, and have built a nice retirement plan. We are very comfortable financially because we applied the abundance rules in this article. Oh, that Mortgage will be paid off soon so that my wife can take early retirement. In fact, by the time you see this article it may already be paid off.

Let's boil it down: How Do You Have Abundance?

    1) Adopt an attitude of excitement about having abundance!

    2) Do things to create abundance!

    3) Buy only what you need for as long as it takes for you to get out of debt.

    It's just that simple.

    How to get Lucky!

Do you know someone who's always lucky - a friend or colleague for whom things just work out - as if by magic?

The concept of luck brings up an age-old question: Are some people born lucky and others not? The answer to both questions is "no." You - right now - have the ability to create your own luck. So-called luck is simply the ability to attract your desires into your life.

In fact, researcher Dr. Richard Wiseman conducted a ten-year scientific study on "the luck factor" and discovered that lucky people "generate their own good fortune via four basic principles. They are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities, make lucky decisions by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling prophesies via positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good."

Philosopher William James referred to attitude as the "mother of luck." If a positive attitude is the mother of luck, then attraction and abundance round out the family. If you expect a positive outcome, you generally get one. If you pour energy into worrying about a bad outcome, you may create a self-fulfilling prophesy. The law of attraction influences luck as well. Like attracts like; what you put out, you get back. What you focus on influences your results. And a positive attitude plus positive attraction equals abundance in all areas of life - including luck.

Follow this acronym to create your own lucky breaks.

L - Listen and let go. Listen to your intuition and detach from the outcome. Stay focused on your intuitive desires rather than on attempting to control the outcome.

U- Understand and notice. Observe your environment. Be mindful of opportunities. Take your blinders off and see what you've missed.

C - Claim what you want. You've got to know what you want. Observe what you deny yourself. It's impossible to create abundance from scarcity - as lucky people know.

K - Keep at it. Listen to your intuition, observe your environment and claim what you want; then take inspired action.

Once your "luck" begins to change and the good times roll in, be mindful. It's common to experience an identity shift as you attract more desires into your life.

This may unconsciously - or consciously - activate your fear. You may feel like you're in unfamiliar territory and not entirely sure of the ground rules. Persevere. Stay the course. Continue to follow the tenets of the LUCK acronym to help you through this growth spurt.

The next time you catch yourself waiting for a lucky break, take luck into your own hands. Survey your beliefs and thoughts; be aware of what you attract and watch your deepest desires flow more smoothly into your life. Empower yourself and watch the good fortunes of lady luck come your way.

What is your Vision of You?

Today, yes this very day, a dear family friend, only 48, did not wake up. Yesterday he was fine. Today the funeral is being planned. We do not know how long we have. Not you. Not me. Not anyone. The grim reaper shows up when he will.

Have you a vision of your potential legacy?

Is there a plan in position, your plan, to leave this world a better place. Surely you know that’s why the creator of us all gave us breath and life. Each day we speak or train, we have the opportunity to allow some part of our vision to be actualized.

I love to share the Johnny Appleseed story from the platform. Picture this frail old man, sack over his back, walking by the side of the road aided by his cane. He pauses every 30 feet, or so, and pokes his cane into the earth.

He reaches into his sack. He takes out one apple core and gently pushes it into the hole made by his cane. He tamps it down with his shoe. Then he walks on. 10 or 12 paces ahead he repeats the performance, a little smile on his lips.

A small boy watches, pulls on the old man’s sleeve and says, “I know what you’re doing. And you won’t be here to see those trees get big, produce apples and give shade.”

The old man wipes his brow with his big red neckerchief. “In that case,” he replies, “I think I’ll plant a few extras today.” His vision is obvious.

What is your vision. What is your vision of the possible you, of the reality that is to be because you stand and speak?

We don’t have to change the macrocosm, the whole world. What matters is that we add value, all we can add, for those in the microcosm, our personal worlds, yours and mine: All the people we know, all the places we go, all the circumstances and conditions of our lives. And that we do it while we can.

Are we walking our talks? Are we justifying the space we take up and the resources we consume on this earth? Are we being a model of the possible human? Have we a vision, our personal vision, of our respective legacies? This is what we must face. This is what we must consider in the still watches of the night.

After all, there are only so many tomorrows.

    We Attract What We Are

It's been said that, "To attract attractive people, you must be attractive. To attract powerful people, you must be powerful. To attract committed people, you must be committed. Instead of going to work on them, you go to work on yourself. If you become, you can attract."

Many people want some extraordinary things but their self-image limits them on what they actually receive. A person cannot attract to themselves that which is greater than the way they see themselves.

For example, as long as we think and act like a smoker, we’re sure to keep smoking regardless of the patches, hypnosis, drugs or other cures we may seek. The same goes whether we're wanting to lose weight, find a mate, or find a more satisfying career. Until we begin to think and act like the person who has the things we desire we’ll never attract those things.

People who have successful marriages don’t think and act the way they do because they have successful marriages, they have successful marriages because they think and act a certain way. The same is true with people who have accumulated great wealth. They have wealth because they think and act in a manner that is conducive
    to attracting it.

Many people work very hard and sacrifice a lot in an effort to
create the best life possible. But they are frustrated beyond belief and cannot understand why "life is so hard" or "why life continues to deal them such a poor hand."

Life is only hard because one believes that it is. Life will continue to deal a poor hand to those who believe that it will. People do not attract what they want, but that which they are.

Proverbs 23:7 says, "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he." They only way to attract what we want is to change the way we're thinking about ourselves in certain situations. We need to get a different picture. Even if it is hard to believe. It's been said that the longer you tell ourselves a lie the more we will begin to accept
    it ourselves.

In all reality though, we will be telling ourselves the truth. The truth is, we are winners, and we can have the things we desire. Jesus died that we may have life in abundance (John 10:10).

Many times, we just need to change your expectations. No matter what negative circumstances we may find ourselves in, we need to expect things to turn around in our favor. When we stop working on what it is we’re trying to get, and start working on changing the way we see ourselves, only then will we get what it is we want.

When we change our thinking, our results will change.

Tithe Your Way Out Of Debt?

    by Jim DeSantis, Editor

In the course of being active in the local church and attaining Associate Degrees in Pastoral Counseling and Theology, I became convinced that this - "you can tithe your way out of debt" - is a false teaching, pervasive in the church today.

Now, it is not my intention to upset the church. I am not a radical by any means. But, I believe there is no scripture that justifies this, NO, not even Malachi.

In fact, much of the church teaches Malachi incorrectly. They never teach the entire passage on tithing. They leave out its beginning where Malachi quotes God as saying - "you have gone away from mine ordinances". The word "ordinances", according to Strong's Concordance, means "laws". And, as Paul said -" He (Jesus) released us from the curse of the law".

This teaching, that you can give your way out of debt, or, to put it another way they teach it, "you can't out give God", has ruined many Christian families.

We had an evangelist come to our church and teach "Do you want a better house? Give yours away and God will give you a better house!" One woman in the church actually put her wedding ring in the plate because she was so far in debt she had no money to give. She would have been better off pawning the ring for cash and putting it towards a debt! You can imagine, her husband was not at all pleased! The Pastor had enough sense to give her back the ring.

Listen - if you are giving to get, you will be disappointed and go broke!

Jesus taught a lot about money. He taught that we should be good stewards of God's money. He taught that we should be smart investors of God's money. He taught that we should pay our taxes (render unto Caesar what is Caesar's). And, Proverbs tells us - "neither a borrower nor a lender be".

The Bible is full of advice about money, debt, work, and responsibility. Unfortunately, most Christians don’t read it and study it. They would rather take the word of some evangelist because it sounds good and they are desperate!

A fellow church member once said to me - "I tithe faithfully but God is not blessing me. I can't figure it out."

I answered - "Well, maybe it's because you spend $50.00 a week going to a massage parlor and another $20.00 a week on beer. That's $70.00 a week you could be giving to God's work."

You see, I believe God does not look at how much you give. He looks at your heart, your motive for giving. He looks at what you do with the money he has put into your hands. There are many scriptures to support this. Take some time and read the book of James. It's a short and powerful book.

Because of Malachi, many people believe that all we need to do is give God 10% ("tithe means 10%) plus an offering above the tithe amount and we have met God's law. But, we are no longer under the law, remember?

Look, if your are totally convinced regarding the "Tithe", then continue giving that way, especially if you are being blessed. But, if you are not being blessed, maybe you should change how you give!

Case in point: When I was a fund raiser for a major Christian ministry we received a check from a gentleman for $15.97 each and every week. No doubt, this was a tithe (10%) from his income. Why else the oddball amount?

So, Jim, how should I give?

    1) You must pay off your debts! You are a Christian. If you are a deadbeat, what does this say to non-Christians? Get a second job if you have to. But, get out of debt! Get Christian Credit Counseling if necessary. Repeat, get out of debt!

    2) Give what you can for now. Even one-dollar! Give it cheerfully!

    3) Don't give to be blessed. Give with the idea you are helping the work of the church to bring others to Christ. God will take care of you automatically. He knows what you need in the way of finances.

    4) Stop squandering God's money (like the example above). Spend on what you need, not on what you want.

In my own life, once I understood Malachi, my financial situation changed dramatically for the better. I began by asking the Holy Spirit how much I should give, ignoring the 10% rule.

Once he said - "Give $200.00".

I said - "We only have $300.00 in our checking account".

    He said - "Give $200.00".

    I said - "OK".

Another time He said - "Don't give anything. You're going to need it".

I said - "OK". Can you guess? Yes, we needed that money to cover an unexpected debt!

Did the Holy Spirit talk to me out loud? No, of course not! It was a clear thought, a knowing that it was Him speaking. After a while you will get to know when it’s Him talking to you in your thoughts.

Ever since my wife and I have been giving this way, most of our debts are gone, our bank account has grown, and, best of all, our needs are always met. Now, you likely have a Mortgage or pay Rent, maybe a car payment, you have to put food on the table, buy clothing, etc. These are debts that almost everyone must incur. The point is, always ask yourself, “Do we need this or just want this?” This simple question will get you out of debt faster than any budget plan devised by man. And, it will keep you out of debt!

These tips will get you started on the road to abundance. You may want a more detailed blueprint. I recommend: "5 Biblical Keys to Outrageous Abundance"! This is my personal favorite. I own it and use it. Author, Dan Brown, gives a detailed Biblical path to abundance. I promise, you will be blessed!

    Christianity & Wealth

    by Will Edwards

Without giving the subject much thought, I can recall some of the messages, concerning money, that I noticed during my formative years. Messages I remember from my Christian background regarding money and wealth include, but are not limited, to these...

  • Money is the Root of All Evil
  • You Cannot Serve God And Mammon (Money)

Let us take a look at each one of these ideas in turn.

Money is the Root of All Evil

It turns out that this quotation is a line from a song, by Joan Whitney & Alex Kramer, recorded by the Andrews Sisters circa 1946. But it is not a line from the Bible as so many people seem to think. The Biblical quotation, which comes from the book of 1 Timothy, says that 'the love of money is the root of all evil'. There is, of course, quite a difference between these two quotations.

You Cannot Serve God and (Mammon) Money

This is indeed a quotation from the Bible and it was Jesus who said it, so it merits careful examination. To understand what Jesus said in this verse, it it necessary to understand what it means to serve God and also what it means to serve mammon (money). To me, the business of serving money is putting the pursuit of money first in your life; and by serving God, it means to put God first in your life.

What this verse means then, is that you cannot (i.e. it is impossible) serve God whilst you are putting the pursuit of money first in your life. And if you really think about it, that is exactly what is also mean by the quotation from 1 Timothy.

    The Story of Solomon

Do you know the story about when God appeared to King Solomon and asked him what he really wanted in life? I am sure you know that Solomon ruled over Israel during its golden age of peace and prosperity. Here is a brief extract which explains what happened. It is taken from the 2nd book of Chronicles ...

That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, "Ask for whatever you want me to give you."

Solomon answered, "Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people."

God said to Solomon, "Since this is your heart's desire and you have not asked for wealth, riches or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you King, therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, riches and honor, such as no King who was before you ever had and none after you will have."

It is a truly amazing story. Here is God apparently offering to grant any wish Solomon would care to make and the King asks for 'wisdom and knowledge'. He could have asked for anything: wealth, prestige, victory in war and so on, but he didn't. What he did was to search his innermost being and discover what was truly hidden within. He discovered his heart's desire which was to acquire the wisdom and knowledge to lead his people.

What would you do if God were to appear to you one night and ask you the same question? For what would you ask? Would it be riches; would it be fame; would it be to get back at people who have treated you unfairly? Let's take a look at each of these things.

Firstly, riches: would being rich make you happy? Perhaps our first reaction is to say something like, 'it would certainly make me happier than I am at the moment'. But we all know, really deep down within, that money can't buy us happiness. There have been many examples of celebrities who have discovered the hard way that being rich and being happy are not the same thing.

Secondly, fame: would being famous bring you happiness? Again the answer from your heart, if you really listen, is, 'no'.

Finally, what about revenge? Wouldn't you like to get your own back on a few people who have treated you badly in the past? If you listen carefully to you heart, you will find that no matter what has happened to you in your life, the real answer from within is, 'no'.

    Your Heart's Desire

So what is it then? What would you ask for if God made you the same offer he made to King Solomon? Well you would of course need to really do some careful soul-searching, wouldn't you, to discover the deepest desire of your heart? When you knew what that desire was, then you would know the answer to the question.

Well all that soul-searching seems like a lot of hard work; and why should you be bothered to put in the effort? After all, I hear some people say, God is not going to come along and make me the same offer! But perhaps the greatest lesson of this life is that he does make you exactly the same offer.

If you really study this passage from 2nd Chronicles, you will find that God never actually offered to grant Solomon's wish ? he simply asked him a question. It was because Solomon looked within and answered from the heart that God not only granted his request but also added things for which he had not asked.

And so it is with you. The deepest desire of your heart is to find and fulfill your unique God-given purpose. Nothing less will bring you the happiness and satisfaction you really want.

I believe that it is true that God has implanted this desire deep within your heart. You have a unique purpose to fulfill in this life. It is a God-given purpose. You don't have to take up the challenge; you don't have to ask God to grant that deepest innermost desire; it is your choice. But finding and fulfilling that desire is the one thing that will bring you true happiness in this life.

    The Power Of Dominant Thought

    by Brian Carson

Wayne Dyer, the famous author, speaker and teacher, likes to say in his writings that what you focus on expands. Nothing could be more profound or truthful.

What you focus on expands should be a rallying cry for all who want and are willing to pay the price to live the life they imagine. We are the sum total of all our thoughts. Our dominant thoughts create the life we have lived up to this point and will create our futures as well. Make no mistake about it.

This is not some New Age hocus-pocus. This principle has been around for centuries. The Bible says, “As a man thinketh in his heart, that is what he is.” Roman Emperor, Marcus Aurelius said, “a man’s life is dyed by the color of his thoughts,” and the Buddha commented that, “All that a man is comes from his thoughts.”

All of us at one time have used this power of dominant thought, whether we realized it or not. When as I was about 12 or 13 years old, I really wanted to be a running back on my midget football team. Most of the time, I played on the offensive and defensive lines, but I set my sights on running back.

During the full three months of summer vacation, all I thought about morning, noon and night, was being the starting running back on the football team. Soon summer was over and we had our first practice. The coach asked us where we wanted to play and I said running back.

Long story short, I won the starting position in tryouts and played the entire season as the starting fullback. All from my dominant thought over the summer.

That is just a minor example of the power of dominant thought. There have been larger and grand examples throughout history, like Alexander the Great and Genghis Khan to name a few.

The important key to remember is it must be dominant thought. Half-hearted or fleeting thoughts will not bring about the desired intent. Only a thought that consumes you, that dominates your waking moments, is strong enough to make it become a reality.

Thoughts are things. Thoughts are electrical impulses and if a thought is strong enough it can reach out into the quantum field, which is also made up of various light vibrations (electrical impulses), and match you up with your desired thought. Like attracts like. This is a fact. If you couple your dominant thought with focused, confident action - life will give you whatever you ask.

    The Cure For Bellyachin'

    by Terry L. Sumerlin - "The Barber-osopher"

It was a quiet Thursday morning at the barbershop. J.B was in the shop reading the paper and I was seated at the desk in the office, talking on the phone. Suddenly, the front door opened and someone asked, “Is Terry here?” Quickly I ended my conversation, and opened the office door to see who had come in.

I was pleased to see one of my regulars, a very successful businessman that I especially like. He said that his wife and son were outside in the car, and he wanted to know if I would mind taking a look at his 16-year-old to see if there was something I thought I could do with his hair. I asked if he thought it would work best if I came outside or if he would like to bring him inside. In a moment, with the help of his wife, he brought his son in.

As I walked over to the door to greet his wife, and the boy whose hair I had cut since he was just a little tike, my heart sank to the floor. I thought I had mentally prepared myself, but I was totally unprepared for what I saw.

Several months prior, the dad had come in for a haircut. As usual, I asked, “Joe, how are you?” “Not too good today,” he solemnly replied. “Billy is in Brooke Army Medical Center with second and third degree burns over 60 % of his body.” He went on to explain that Billy had an accident while driving the classic pickup the two of them had restored, and the truck had caught fire.

The boy that was standing in the door of my barbershop had just spent his first night at home, after spending several months in BAMC’s burn unit. Had I not known his parents and the circumstances, I would have never recognized him.

As you might expect, the strain still showed on his parent’s faces. As I carefully cut his hair, avoiding the skin grafts and tender spots on his head, I thought of those days when the sweet mom who was holding his head would bring her little boy in for his after-school haircut. Her life, her son’s and her husband’s would never be the same. Such a beautiful family. It was all such a dirty, rotten, sorry, no-good shame!

On the more positive side, these events remind me of another little boy and of his great uncle. The uncle owned a dump truck, and would occasionally take the nephew with him on various runs. It was a great time, as we would go bouncing off down the road.

Just before my Uncle Archie died, due to the affects of diabetes, Mom and he had an amusing conversation in the hospital. There is certainly nothing funny about diabetes, but it didn’t keep Uncle Archie from having a great sense of humor.

Sadly, he had both legs amputated in order to save his life. In an effort to brighten his day, when Mom walked in his room, she cheerfully asked, “Well, how you doing today, Uncle Archie?” With a gleam in his eye, he smiled and said, “Well, I can’t kick.” Bless his heart, literally, I guess he couldn’t. But, if anyone ever had anything to kick about he certainly did.

BARBER-OSOPHY: We don’t have to look far to realize that most of us have so very little to kick about most of the time.

*For privacy “Joe” and “Billy” are fictitious names.

    Life or Lifestyle?

    by Vicki Miller

“When you live the life you were meant to live, doing the work you were meant to do, enjoying what pleases you, instead of collecting meaningless lifestyles trophies, you will be full of joy and energy. ” Thomas Leonard, Coach University

What is a lifestyle and how is that different from a life?

A lifestyle is about brand names and buying identity or prestige. Lifestyle gives a false sense of peace and acceptability that comes from others recognizing what you’ve bought into (as well as bought). If your car, clothes, and home are expensive, you’re sophisticated and stylish. If you have the right kind of job or go to the right social gatherings, then you receive the superficial approval of others. This means that your self-esteem is always at the mercy of others, with no appreciation of you as an individual.

A life, on the other hand, is very different. A life is what you lead when you know what matters most to you. It is very simple and comes from being connected to what you know is important and being willing to put that first, not matter what others may think. When you create a life vs. a lifestyle, your self-esteem comes from what’s inside you, not what others think about you.

How many times have you seen someone (this used to be me!) work long hours in a job that they do not enjoy just to be able to maintain an expensive lifestyle? There was a recent commercial on TV that showed a man laughing in his yard saying: “I drive an expensive car, have a 5 bedroom home, a country club membership, a swimming pool and I’m in debt up to my eyeballs!” Every time I see this commercial I think about the book - The Millionaire Next Door. The book says that most of the people living in the largest homes are exactly like the man in the commercial and that the real millionaires are the ones you would never guess, because their focus is on creating a life vs. a lifestyle.

Lifestyle is expensive monetarily and personally, because it costs a great deal to keep up appearances and do what you think is socially acceptable. A Life is not expensive. Rather than draining personal or financial resources, a life generates energy and staying power. If we focus on what we wear, or what kind of car we drive, or where we live, then we are saying that how others see us is more important than what we think of ourselves. If we find out what our true beliefs and values are and choose to live by these, then the opinions of others don’t drive our lives. This is not an issue of avoiding luxury for its own sake; it’s about liberating yourself from the mindless consumption that society dictates. It is about making the choices that are in line with your values, instead of draining your bank account or energy for no heart-driven reason.

How can you make the change? Understand the difference between a Life (being directed from within) and a Lifestyle (being directed from outside). Analyze your current lifestyle to see what it is costing you in money, time, stress, and energy to maintain it. Let go and make room for what is really important to you, what sustains you and brings you joy. Remember that who you are comes from within, not what you own!
